These are some of my Freelance Projects. Some I have built; others I just did the design work for.
Manayunk renovation/addition
Permits were approved in June, construction to begin July 2009.
description. Clients were interested in updating their tiny kitchen and gaining necessary storage space, while making it functional and a central connection point between the outdoors and the rest of the house. The kitchen is the ‘default’ entrance to the home and as such deserves to be a welcoming environment. After back and forth discussions with the clients, we have a scheme that enlarges the kitchen and opens it up to the dining room. We have also decided to enlarge the second floor bedroom and update the backyard with a new fence and multiple seating and storage zones. I prefer to design ‘on site’, so most of the details (storage & the fence) will be worked out during construction. Click image to see the drawings.

I started volunteering with my friends Chris & Emily Stromberg about 6 months ago. They have subsequently took me on board as a designer/carpenter at Southern Liberties. http://www.southernliberties.com/
This particular project is for a ‘soon to be’ LEED Platinum house in South Philadelphia.
It has been a priceless experience and I can’t wait for the next project!
They have created a comprehensive blog of the entire process. It is a great reference for architects and those looking to renovate. Click image to be redirected to the blog.

my first project (and job!) out of school was to design and build a gallery and studio for AxD along with the principal. Ed Barnhart, AIA http://www.a-x-d.com
It was one of the most rewarding and educational experiences…much better than sitting behind a desk! Click image to see more views of the project.
